Women benefited from WRSF's public screening for the prevention of cervical cancer and breast cancer

Since the launch of the project "Preventing diseases and poverty, and promoting rural revitalization" by the Western Returned Scholars Foundation (WRSF) and the Chicheng County Government on July 26, it hasprovided a total of more than 10,000 women of the appropriate age with screening services in two months. The screening was effective in increasing the rate of early diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer and breast cancer among women in Chicheng, thereby preventing disease and poverty and promoting rural revitalisation.

The screening was mainly conducted in Chicheng County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, covering Huai'an County, Zhuolu County, Huailai County and Fengning Manchu Autonomous County.Four fixed intelligent breast AIBUS screening devices and two vehicle-mounted mobile screening vehicles were used. The main focus is on Chicheng County Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Chicheng County People's Hospital, assisted by Longguan, Diao'e and Baicao township health centres, and 15 visits to the countryside by medical and nursing staff and mobile screening vans to provide professional services to women.

More than 3,000 people were consulted for free, and exclusive customised materials were distributed to promote cervical cancer and breast cancer prevention

The results of the rural screening and medical consultation were remarkable. During the screening programme, the Zhangjiakou Maternal and Child Health Hospital and the Chicheng County People's Hospital, together with BGI Genomics, conducted more than ten free rural screening and clinic services, covering 20 towns and villages, and consulted more than 3,000 people for free.

Medical and nursing professional training. Seven training sessions were held during the project implementation. A manual on the project implementation plan and a manual on the operation of the system were distributed to ensure that the medical staff in each township successfully mastered the various operational procedures.

To raise awareness of cancer prevention. Customised promotional materials and videos were published. The Foundation's public website published tweets on the launch of thepublic screening for the prevention of cervical cancer and breastcancer project, registration appointments, results enquiries and prevention of cervical cancer and breastcancer, in order to disseminate knowledge on cervical cancer and breastcancer prevention and provide women with caring services. Medical and nursing staff of the project site hospitals took the initiative to promote the knowledge of cervical cancer and breastcancer prevention and control and distributed promotional materials on cervical cancer and breastcancer prevention and control during their work in rural areas.

Awareness is the most cost effective way to stay healthy

Cervical cancer screening uses the "Internet + self-sampling" approach, while breast cancer screening uses "intelligent breast ultrasound + intelligent manual film reading" technology. The integration of the two technologies allows medical staff to be less involved in the screening phase, allowing them to focus on further confirmation of the diagnosis after screening, and to receive remote guidance on any problems encountered during screening. A specially designed mobile screening van helps to serve remote areas and places with a high concentration of mobile populations, solving the problem of the long-distance problem of screening.

The project provides statistical data, including personal information, test results, secondary diagnosis results of positive patients, pathological diagnosis data and clinical treatment data. Local governments or screening organisations can create their own screening databases to effectively track and supervise the prevention of cervical cancer and breastcancer in their area. The information management system enables data storage and management of multiple screening programmes over a long period of time, and provides visualisation of data statistics and reports for local governments.

Screening appointments are made online, and flow restrictions are strictly carried out. Strictly implement preventive measures such as taking temperature readings, wearing masks and one metre lines.Strict implementing disinfection system.

Health is an inevitable requirement for the promotion of all-round human development, a basic requirement for economic and social development, an important symbol of national prosperity and national wealth, and a common pursuit of the general public. Prevention is the most economical and effective health strategy. Science and technology are the sharpest weapons in the fight against disease.

Based on the experience of theproject "Preventing diseases and poverty, and promoting rural revitalization"in Chicheng, WRSF will continue to summarize and improve the operational mechanism, and make due efforts and contributions to the realization of the "Two Hundred Years" goal and the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by uniting the caring forces, introducing high-tech medical technology, and working together with local governments to lay a solid health foundation.
